Sperry Top-Side
21 Apr
A few weeks ago my mom, myself, and my little sister went to eat at a restaurant. They were both wearing Sperry’s, which I had never seen before. The first thing that my sister says is “yeah, mom had to go and get the SAME shoes that I got, the same exact color and everything”. My mom then says “that’s not what you said yesterday! yesterday you were all excited that we had matching shoes!”. This shoe seems to be the new in thing… I have heard several kids talking about these shoes and I have seen more and more people wearing them. They come in all different colors and styles. From what I have heard they are super comfortable, but I have yet to try them out myself.
Now, I would not recommend this style…
5 Ways To Be A Greener Kid
21 AprThere are lots of ways we can save energy and nature. Here are a few I have come across for kids to be involved.
Ask your parents for green or recycled school supplies - these products come from other material that other kids probably recycled. This material is then used to create new products so it is recycled rather then creating something from scratch. It takes energy and gas to create new products so it is better to use things that are recycled. You will see why at the end of this post.
Throw EMPTY cans and paper into a recycle bin instead of a regular trash can – make sure that there is no food or liquid left in whatever you are recycling. Food/liquid can contaminate recycled stuff and when it goes to the recycle plant it won’t be any good! Just be sure to FINISH the drink before throwing it into that blue can.
Turn off the water while brushing your teeth – Americans waste lots and lots of water because we are so used to it always being there for us. Did you know in some countries they have no water from faucets? We must conserve our water since we have to share it with millions of other people.
Start a garden at home – growing your own fruits and vegetables is not only fun but healthier for you.
Turn off the lights or TV when you leave a room – yes, not all adults do this either but it is a really good habit. If you can’t remember to turn off the lights put a little sticker or a sign next to the light switch to remind you that the lights go off!
Why be green? It reduces the earth’s pollution. It’s part of a big word called “sustainability”. This means, sustaining or keeping the earth in good health for future kids and their future kids too.
Shrinky Dinks
19 AprI remember being a kid and putting these little thingies that I colored into the oven. When they were done they came out as little plastic toys that kind of melted and “shrinky dinked”. Okay so maybe you are thinking “laaaaaame, haven’t you heard of XBOX?!”. Well I don’t remember there being an Xbox at that time, there was Nintendo – not the crazy 3D looking one but still pretty cool and a classic. Well now these Shrinky Dinks have evolved a tad since they started in the 70′s (yeah way before my time too).
What’s new? Well now you can print these out on your printer from any pictures you find online or your own picture that you create or make in Paint. You just get the special plastic paper and wahla! you’re own custom Shrinky Dink! and it literally only takes 2 minutes. There are also new themes like Sponge Bob, Dora, etc. There are kits for making greeting cards, jewelry, gift tags, hair clips, key chains, charm bracelets, ornaments, and the list goes on.
The First Post!
19 AprWelcome to our blog! So I decided to start this site to reach out to the younger group of kids who aren’t really ready to hit Facebook yet (if that is possible these days) but still like to be online and a part of the whole social media craze. I plan on updating this site everyday (or almost everyday) with all kinds of different info. The blog is run by myself (the not so old sister) with the help of my little sister who is the inspiration of this. I never realized how fashionable yet silly an 11 year old could be but my sister definitely is. Everything she is into is fun and creative, also her sense of style which is way better then mine was at her age and probably still is better then my now. With the help of her style and creativity I’d like to include different posts on this site like places to go, things to do, how to’s, style must-haves, style must-do’s, funny stuff I find online, games, and who knows what else. Pretty much this is just a place where kids/tweens can come and get some ideas of things to do for fun!
